Belinda Ormond

Ceramics

Clay is the primary medium for Belinda’s creative expression. She has been working in this medium for more than 20 years years now. She enjoys the playing field of colours, types and textures which clay offers, while understanding its fragility and vulnerability. Belinda accepts the constant challenge of materializing the objects that rise up in her imagination; for this reason her work changes course as her efforts follow inspiration; either as a new shape, technique or finish in the clay. Her work is a balance between the practical and the fanciful. The work on display is an experimentation of using clay as a piece of paper and paper becoming fixed in a clay form. Belinda has participated in numerous joint exhibitions; regularly exhibiting at the Ceramics Southern Africa exhibitions, both national and regional. Belinda has been teaching handwork in clay since 2000 while continuing to develop her own work and style.
